Købmand once upon a time

Once upon a time, there was a little villa on the corner… When it was built in 1931 it was a 2-family house with a little local grocery shop “Købmandshandel” attached.

Over the years and with three generations of owners, the shop supplied the neighborhood with their necessities, even pre-prepared meals, and for a short period, an ice cream stand as well - perhaps to enjoy while going for a walk across the street at the Sorgenfri Slotspark.

Then after almost 50 years, the villa came to be used by the original shop owner of Lyngby Cykelhuset (the local bike shop). When he moved from bikes to mopeds, then motorboating equipment the house became LYNGBY TEKNIK - which many of us in the neighborhood visited when it was inherited by his son and became a center for garden equipment such as lawnmowers, saws, parts, and repair.

Today the villa opens as Villa Vi -

It’s all the things that we believe in - being inspired to make conscious choices, choosing locally-produced products, prioritizing reusable materials, recycling, and up-cycling, being creative, gathering with common interests, and certainly following one’s passion.

Here you will also be able to buy a really good cup of coffee - of course, freshly brewed and roasted locally - as part of the focus on community and quality.

We hope everyone that walks through the VILLA VI doors has a great and inspiring experience.

We look forward to seeing you!

Vi glæder os til at se jer!
